Sagging Jowls
Sagging jowl is considered to be a sign of ageing, it is normal and can happen to everyone, but there are also people who never experience sagging jowls in their whole life. It causes no harm to your health but aesthetic concerns, which can lower people’s self esteem.
Symptoms
Sagging Jowl is the loose skin developed around your lower jawline and chin, it can reduce your facial definition and cause you to have the angry or upset looking permanently
Causes
Ageing – As we age, our body reduces collagen and elastin production in the skin. The collagen and elastin are the protein fibers in the skin that keep the connective tissue together. They are responsible for keeping the skin firm and in shape. The breakdown in the production of collagen and elastin fibers results in the loss of connective tissue and therefore causes the skin to be saggy. In this case, other factors of ageing, for example the sun damage and smoking, are also relevant to the causes of sagging jowls.
Genetics – If one of your family members has it, you are very likely to have one too.
Sudden weight loss – When you gain weight, your skin stretches, vice versa, when you lose weight, the stretched skin becomes saggy and causes the development of jowls.
Dehydration, stress, excessive intake of alcohol, lack of exercise, lack of antioxidants are also factors of sagging jowls.
