Chemical Skin Peels
What is Chemical Skin Peels ?
Chemical skin peels are a common type of chemical exfoliation for the skin which is most widely used and safest non-surgical skin treatment. These peels use acids extracted from fruit, sugar cane, nuts or yoghurt to remove dead skin cells while stimulating regrowth in the epidermis. Different strengths and ingredients of the peels can be used to treat different layers of the skin. It safely resolves all kinds of skin conditions from zits and acne to wrinkles and fine lines, hyperpigmentation, acne marks etc., adjusting the metabolism and restoring smoothness of the skin.
What does the Chemical Skin Peel involve?
Before any treatments, we will do a thorough consultation with you to access your skin, discuss your concerns and aesthetic goals. Within the VISIA skin analysis, we are able to tailor a Chemical Skin Peels treatment plan which is best suited for your skin. The practitioner will determine the type and strength of chemical skin peels for you. During the treatment, the practitioner will cleanse your skin and apply for the solution. You will be put on sunscreen or a moisturiser after the treatment.
How does Chemical Skin Peels work?
Medical grade AHA has relatively small molecules and a simple structure, naturally possessing a strong penetrative capacity which passes through the stratum corneum to the dermis. Aside from accelerating the metabolism of the epidermis, it can also adjust the metabolism of the stratum corneum while cleansing deep into the pores, breaking down excess oil and preventing the overproduction of oil glands.
AHA Chemical Skin Peels creates three major reactions in the skin that are used to rejuvenate the skin.
Regulate the metabolism of the skin cells:
The relatively low PH of fruit acids exfoliates built-up dead skin cells, which can clear clogged pores and accumulation of dead skin cells. This irregularity of the top layer of skin blocking up the pores can cause acne. Besides, excessive buildup of dead skin cells will make the skin look dark and dull, and the skin peels can restore a more even and vivid skin texture.
Boost collagen production:
The stimulation of further collagen production in the dermis.
With the small molecular of AHA, they can penetrate deep into the dermis to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, while also accelerating the collagen and elastin fibres to reform. It can help to treat the skin’s elasticity and fine lines and wrinkles, as well as improve rough skin and enlarged pores.
Brighten the pigmentation
Through the gradual removal of dead skin cells and the accelerative exfoliation of melanin in the epidermis, sun spots, acne scars and hyperpigmentation can all be improved while also increasing the metabolism of melanin in the skin.
What can Chemical Skin Peels treat?
Pimples, zits, blackheads, etc are all formed on three major conditions: over production of the sebum, irregular keratinisation of the follicles and the anaerobic bacteria. Chemical skin peels can improve acne from its root. It can prevent the sebaceous glands from producing excess oil, unblock the clogged pores while regulating the cells’ turnover and kill the bacteria that cause acne.
Basal pigmentation cells in the skin produce melanin and with the metabolism of cutin, this will gradually move to the skin’s surface to form hyperpigmentation and acne marks. Chemical skin peels perform a superficial epidermis exfoliation, which rapidly increases the metabolism of melanin and fades hyperpigmentation.
The skin’s metabolism slows with age, which leads to a slow exfoliation of dead skin cells that form up in drifts that result in rough skin texture, enlarged pores and dull skin. By stimulating the dermis to produce more collagen and clearing out built-up dead skin cells, Chemical Skin Peels can improve skin texture from the bottom up, renew the top layer of the skin and reduce pore size while evening out and brightening skin colour.
Age and the slow turnover of skin cells can form lines and wrinkles. Chemical Peels can stimulate the growth of collagen to fill out wrinkles.
