Soft Thread Lift
What is SOFT THREAD LIFT ?
As we age, fine lines and wrinkles will be shown on our skin, as well the loose skin etc. A Soft Thread Lift is designed for sagging skin caused by ageing. Inserting absorbable PDO threads into the deep layers of the skin brings an instant lifting of saggy skin and creates lasting stimulation of collagen production to restore the fullness and youthful appearance.
What does the Soft Thread Lift involve?
As every patient is different, we will conduct a full consultation with you before your Soft Thread Lift. We will access your skin and discuss your aesthetic goals. Typically, the local anaesthetic will be used to reduce the discomfort during the treatment. Markings on the targeted areas will be made where the threads will be introduced to lift the skin. A tiny incision will be made to allow the cannula or micro-needle to work through. Following this, the threads will be inserted to treat the jawline, nasolabial folds, and saggy neck, depending on the patient. Once the cannula or needle is removed, the threads remain in place to create a long-lasting lifted look.
How does Soft Thread Lift work?
Soft Thread Lift uses the cannula to insert Polydioxanone (PDO) threads into the dermis or fix it to the fascia layer. By lifting and fixing the skin in place, it can form an immediate 3D effect from the inside out. These PDO threads are fused with innumerable small barbs that lock with the skin tissue. Therefore, the skin will be lifted and fixed in place after insertion and resulting in an overall lifting of the face.
The PDO threads will lift and restore the sagging subcutaneous fats and loose skin, much like a rope lifting a lantern. The innumerable barbs on PDO threads will also activate the repair mechanisms of the dermis to increase the growth of collagen. Even after 4-6 months, the skin will continue to produce more collagen when the PDO threads have all been absorbed.

The Advantages of Soft Thread Lift
Safety
Polydioxanone-type threads can be completely absorbed and broken down by the body. With a long history of use in surgical operations widely, there is a very low chance of rejection by the body and is very safe to use in facial rejuvenation.
Comfortable treatments
Before carrying out a Soft Thread Lift, we will apply anaesthetic cream on the treatment areas and inject localised anaesthetic during the procedure. The treatment uses a small cannula which will only leave a tiny injection mark.
Natural and long-lasting results
The PDO threads used in a soft thread lift will be absorbed by the body within 6 months, but the stimulation of the production of collagen will last 6-8 months, which results in tighter and fuller skin and building a firmer youthful appearance in a natural way.
Instantaneous lifting of the skin
After inserting PDO threads, our practitioner will press and lift sagging skin tissue to create instant lifting of the cheeks and jaw, as well as firming up of sagging skin instantly.
The Brand
We have selected the most widely used product on the market named MINT™. MINT™ received medical registration globally, including the FDA from US, Europe CE, China CFDA and Korea MFD , it is also backed by more than 6 years of clinical studies for its efficacy and safety and is the first and only PDO suture in the US market within two FDA clearances.
The lifting threads in MINT™ are medical and absorbable, strengthening their support to the skin. On their surface are many tiny funnel-shaped cones that form a tight connection with the skin tissue, making them able to firmly grab more of the fascia layer and subcutaneous fats, providing a clearer and more immediately lifting effect.
Frequently Asked Questions
A: The number of threads used is not too greatly related to the lifting result – rather the location and areas targeted are the more important. To attain your desired results, our practitioners will access the status of your skin and to what severity of sagginess, thereby creating a custom plan of how to achieve the ideal lift.
A: Designed for use in surgical operations to close the skin or organ tissue, the PDO threads will be absorbed completely by the skin’s metabolism.
A: Age is not necessarily a determining factor – rather the status of your skin is the key. The skin might begin loose and sagging from the age of 20, if a bad lifestyle has been followed or sudden extreme weight loss has occurred, etc. No matter your age, a soft thread lift can help you overcome the sagging problem.
A: The skin will not suddenly sag back down because even once the threads have been absorbed, the collagen in the skin will continue increasing. From around the age of 25, our skin and its subcutaneous fats will gradually begin to sag, but PDO threads can return the skin tissue to its original. If good skincare is undertaken after the treatment, the lifting result can last longer.
A: Soft Thread Lift use a relatively small cannula and so will only leave micro holes the size of a needle in the skin which will close within 48 hours.
A: The results are immediate after the treatment, and the PDO threads will be absorbed within 6 months. The lifting effects, however, usually last 12-18 months.
A: Soft thread lifts are a minimally invasive treatment, so swelling, redness and bruising will appear after the procedure. Without proper aftercare after the procedure, the wounds may become infected and inflamed, alongside possible swelling. Outside of this, the PDO threads might break after the treatment, but such an occurrence is very rare.
A: Those with the following conditions should avoid Soft Thread Lift:
Pregnant women
Those with inflammation or infections;
Those who are long-term users of aspirin or other anticoagulants;
Those with permanent fillers in their faces;
Those with extremely sagging skin and deep wrinkles. A facelift will provide the best results.
- For six hours after the treatment, please avoid touching the treated area or wetting the wounds. Afterwards, you can resume normal washing and skincare. Please delicately wash the skin for the following week and avoid massaging the face with great strength.
- Please avoid drinking or smoking for 2-3 days after treatment.
- Please avoid using aspirin or other similar medicines after the procedure – they will reduce the coagulation of platelets and therefore negatively affect restoration and repair.
- Slight redness and swelling, localised tightness and perhaps bruising may follow the procedure. Everyone’s bodies are different so there will be different levels of severity whilst recovery periods will also vary.
- Avoid sauna, spas or other extreme temperature activities for 2 weeks after the treatment.
- For two weeks after the treatment, please avoid dentistry or other aesthetic procedures. Meanwhile, avoid swimming, working out or other strenuous activity.
- For two weeks after the treatments, please avoid excessive expressions of the face and eating hard foods to prevent negative impact on the lifting effects.
- When sleeping, a high pillow can prevent bruising and swelling. Please avoid sleeping on your front.
- If you feel pain, you can take painkillers under the doctor’s advice.
