Acne Scars
Acne scars, often left behind after severe or persistent acne, are lasting marks that can stay even after active breakouts have faded.
These scars reveal the intricate nature of the skin’s healing process. Though acne is common, the scars it leaves pose distinctive challenges for both appearance and mental well-being. We explore different types of acne scars, how they develop, and modern methods to manage them. Our goal is to provide solutions that help you to achieve smoother, healthier skin.
Symptoms
There are 3 main types of acne scars:
Ice Pick Scars: Characterised by small, profound indentations on the skin’s surface, reminiscent of punctures caused by a sharp instrument.
Rolling Scars: Emanating from the development of scar tissue bands beneath the skin, resulting in a surface texture that appears uneven and undulating.
Boxcar Scars: Manifesting as circular or oval hollows, akin to craters, embedded within the skin’s structure.
While any variety of acne blemish holds the potential to result in scarring, the likelihood escalates particularly with the occurrence of severe acne such as nodules and cysts, which, upon rupture, can inflict harm to adjacent skin regions.
Additionally, picking or squeezing these spots can also contribute to the development of acne scarring.
