SCULPTRA
THE ORIGINAL COLLAGEN REGENERATOR
Sculptra was the world’s first injectable poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) collagen biostimulator. First launched in Europe in 1999, it quickly became recognised for its ability to stimulate the body’s own collagen production, offering gradual, natural rejuvenation rather than instant volumisation.
With:
-
26 years of clinical use
-
Approval in over 60 countries
-
FDA, CE and NMPA certifications
-
Millions of treatments performed worldwide
Sculptra has built one of the strongest long-term safety and efficacy records in aesthetic medicine.
WHAT IS SCULPTRA?
Sculptra (poly-L-lactic acid, PLLA) is an injectable collagen biostimulator.
When injected into the dermis or subcutaneous layer, microscopic PLLA parti- cles initiate a controlled regenerative response. This stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen over time, restoring lost volume and improving skin quality progressively.
Rather than creating immediate bulk, Sculptra rebuilds the skin’s internal framework. Unlike traditional fillers that simply occupy space, Sculptra works gradually, restoring structure from within.
WHAT IS COLLAGEN?
Collagen is a fibrous protein that helps maintain your skin’s shape and structure. The skin needs collagen to resist signs of aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging. By age 40, most of us have lost up to 20% of our natural collagen.
Sculptra helps stimulate natural collagen production. The poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA-SCA) in Sculptra forms a framework that helps support and maintain the skin’s inner structure, which may lead to a more youth- ful-looking appearance.
ADVANCED PLLA-SCA TECHNOLOGY
The upgraded Sculptra formulation features refined PLLA-SCA particles designed for:
-
Greater surface contact with surrounding tissue
-
Enhanced structural stability
-
Controlled hydrolysis and predictable degradation
As PLLA gradually breaks down, it converts into L-lactic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body, which is safely metabolised into carbon dioxide and water.
Importantly, Sculptra stimulates active collagen regeneration, not fibrot- ic tissue formation. This distinction allows for higher-quality collagen production with minimal inflammatory response.
The result: stronger, more natural tissue support.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Once injected, PLLA-SCA particles:
-
Recruit macrophages and stimulate fibroblast activity
-
Promote collagen deposition and extracellular matrix remodelling
-
Improve skin density and thickness
-
Enhance elasticity over time
Clinical studies show:
-
Collagen production begins within 5 days
-
Type I collagen increases by 66.5% at 3 months
-
Elastic fibre quality improves by 34% at 6 months
-
Skin thickness increases by 26.1% at 9 months
-
Results can last over 2 years following a full course
Sculptra works like planting collagen “seeds” within the skin — allowing natural re- generation to unfold gradually and beautifully.
WHO IS SUITABLE FOR SCULPTRA?
Sculptra is ideal for individuals who:
-
Have lost facial firmness and elasticity
-
Experience collagen depletion or volume loss
-
Prefer gradual, natural-looking rejuvenation
-
Are aged 30–50 and seeking preventative anti-ageing
-
Wish to improve skin quality and radiance
-
Have mid-face hollowing or nasolabial folds
-
Want structural tightening without overfilling
Sculptra is not a traditional filler.
It does not provide immediate volume.
It is designed for long-term regenerative rejuvenation.
Why Choose EC Clinic London?
1. Personalised Treatment Planning
Using advanced D9 skin imaging analysis, we assess volume distribution and collagen density before designing a tailored Sculptra strategy. We focus on subtle change with maximum impact.
2. Precision Layered Injection Techniques
Our approach is anatomically guided and concentration-adjusted:
▪ High concentration for ligament reinforcement
▪ Medium concentration for deep wrinkle correction
▪ Standard concentration for global tightening This ensures structural support without heaviness.
3. Advanced Reconstitution Protocol
We utilise vacuum-assisted hydration and controlled oscillation techniques to ensure uniform PLLA dispersion, significantly reducing the risk of nodules.
4. Structured Follow-Up System
Post-treatment monitoring includes repeat imaging analysis to assess collagen regeneration and dynamically refine your treatment plan.
